“Details”, “Moving Bosses” and “That Field”

Dear Lovely Archers

We've published our Tournament Notice for the World Record Status First WA Weekend WA Star & WA Target Award 22nd & 23rd June 2019
You can click here for the details and download the form.

The Devil is not the "Details"

We adopted the use of the attached form here photographed to great effect last week. Reports back to the team indicated that managing the growing numbers of archers was much smoother with the named Details. If you find yourself arriving and not knowing what to do, please see these brief instructions to help you along.

  1. Set up your bow.
  2. Find the form on the Social Table.
  3. Fill in your name (with the Dry-Wipe pen provided) on the form for the target you wish to use and the "Detail" you wish to line up with.
  4. Join in when your "Detail" is called by the Range Captain (Whoever, that hero might be).
  5. If, however, you find that a space has become available on a "Detail" you wish to use, slide your name over to that one: remembering to delete it from the previous "Detail".
  6. When done, run your finger over your name on the list and leave... "Simple".

The Details are in the Details

Windy Days and Moving Bosses

It's been Windy.... You might have noticed. During these days when that wind is powering through our County and you feel that you just might take on nature and shoot some arrows up the field, please bear some of these pointers in mind.

  • Bosses sometimes blow over. Even with the brakes on and the front wheels able to role forward. And if they do... you are likely to lose all the arrows in the boss.
  • You are most likely going to need to shoot at a short distance as arrows are likely to be taken by the wind.
  • When moving the bosses you may need some help. Currently all the bosses are facing the fencing as the wind is blowing them there. Please only move bosses if you feel you are able to.
    1. You will find the warning signs pinned to the floor. You will need to pull them up before you can move bosses with the signs pinned under them.
    2. Remove the brake pins,
    3. Role the boss to where you need it.
    4. Replace the pins so that the boss is unable to move forwards or backwards.
    5. And then all the usual stuff of placing the warning signs on the field.
    6. Finally, if you've moved a boss to a distance, just leave it there after you have finished. Either somebody else will use it or it'll get blown back to the fence.

Other than that; enjoy the weather.

A Doorway to Heaven

There's more happening on our permanent range every week. This week, Chris managed to put the frame into the opening and later with some help from Sandra and Danny we managed to get the door hung. Big thanks to all those involved with this next phase of the project.

Door in Progress

Busy Sessions

The sessions are looking great with so many archers turning up to shoot. The vibe is the usual clatter of Arrow against Target and the noise of folk having a good time.
