Open Day Wet Days and More

Dear Lovely Archers

What a week or two it has been. We've have had some lovely weather, some pitiful weather and some fun.

We saw our Grand Opening at the new Archery Range on the western perimeter fence last Saturday and whilst I'd like to say it was brilliant, it was also dark, cold and sleeting from time to time. It happended and so many brave Archers turned out in their droves. We had a few surprises too. The post shoot luncheon turned out to be a lovely event; so much so that we are considering holding a monthly luncheon, where we can all get together over a bite to eat, tea and coffee and some good conversation... Can't wait. And... watch this space for more information.

Well done to everyone who came along; you made it a very special morning for Wymondham Archers

Here is Andrew Kilby - Chair of Wymondham Rugby Football Club welcoming us to our brand new archery range.

Some of our oldest and youngest shooting their first arrows on the range.

And, Oh Deer, Bambi, gets the needle and becomes a pin cushion.

The Faces looked wonderful, even against the grey backdrop

It wasn't just Fun, Fun, Fun, either. Beginners came along too and took part in their course. Here we have one of our coaches delivering his lesson.

And this week we saw our bosses put to an alternate use. We were all invited to the Rugby Club Annual Fund Raising Dinner. The Chair went with his lovely wife and so did two of our bosses. After finding the signage for the table plans was too wide the bosses were brought into action. We got free advertising and they had a problem solved. It'd be great for Wymondham Archers to host a table next year.

Although, the Chair's lovely lady didn't take kindly to the spooling mistake on the table plan. You might laugh! The following Monday we saw our first Have a Go at the new range. The Young Farmers taking some time out. Alas, not many photographs were taken. But the Club can thank all the helpers that supported the event and Jason Baker of Lustre Coatings who provided his Archery Trap; shooting foam discs that were a huge giggle to have a go at shooting. Needless to say, we all failed dismally.

Although, this last image shows that you can hit the boss at around 80 yards with a 14lb bow. A brief go at a Clout type shot, bows aimed high. Tremendous fun. Well done to whoever shot it.

Happy Shooting
