Births Numbers Tournaments and That Field

Babies Galore

Oh blimey, you archers are not only hitting 10's but you also seem to be making babies. Contratulations go to the Pautards and the Koehlers for their stirling efforts. We understand that mums Christine and Anna are well and babies too. Wymondham Archers warmly welcomes young Fenris Pautard and Ethan Koehler and wish you a happy and loving future.

Tournaments News

We are seeking support for our tournament later in the year, actually, not too far away now in June. Please could you sign up and volunteer to help on the weekend. We already have people, so you won't be on your own. We are seeking around 10-15 kindly individuals who don't want to shoot all weekend and can help on either one or both days. Please ask the Chair via email for more details, or simpy just put your name down.

Some of the Jobs

  • Settiing up the field (Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd June).
  • Changing faces for archers.
  • Collecting Target Scores
  • Searching for lost arrows
  • Using a Metal Detector
  • Pulling arrows for disabled archers
  • Heaps more...

This Weekend - 24th March 2019

If you'd like to come along and watch at the shoot at Hellesdon School in Norwich, you will be very welcome. There is, however, limited space, so you may find yourself bunched up to the side. Please don't worry, you will be welcomed with open arms.

Many of our archers are also representing the County in the afternoon shoot with a friendly tournament against Cambridge. If I could remember who, you'd have gotten a mention. Needless to say, well done, great effort.

City of Norwich Archers aka CoNA are hosting their very first Record Status WA25 this weekend and quite a few of Wymondham Archers are entered; with some of our archers on the waiting list. Please take a look at the target lists here for session 1 and here for session 2 if you know you are shooting on Sunday.

June 22nd and 23rd 2019

The applications are flowing in for our shoot, great news for us. If you are a club member and wish to shoot on one or both days, please don't get left out by leaving it too late. And, if you are a non club member wishing to shoot this tournament... we mean you too.

Numbers for our Targets from a Fellow Archer

A fellow archer from another Club - Norfolk Bowmen - kindly gave to Wymondham Archers a set (some of which have damage) of secondhand numbers for the tops of our bosses; for use at tournaments. David Long is proving to be all that other clubs say of him - knowledgeable and wise in all archery matters. Big thanks to Dave,

There is some damage on two of the number boards, if any of our archers would be kind enough to make the repairs we'd be eternally grateful. Please email the Chair.

That Field

Well, the wind finally abated and yours truly managed to push the sail-like bosses back to their usual positions after their sojourn at the side of the field.

Recognising that the permanent field is likely to be very damp or even boggy in the first part of the year of our use, we may have to stay on the temporary range until later in the Spring / Early Summer. If this is the case it is likely that we won't be able to use solely carbon arrows on the temporary Range as it is dual purpose (multi-sport field) and we'd rather not cause any damage to people. WRFC have, however, been very supportive and agreed that our temporary range can be extended to around 30-50 metres wide, allowing us to have plenty of room until we move over to the permanent Range.

If any of our archers are using carbon (only) arrows please will you not use these on the temporary range until further notice. If you'd like to discuss please email the Chair

Below is an example of Carbon Arrows.

Inductions to Wymondham Rugby Football Club Grounds

If you haven't had your induction to the field as yet please let me know and we can make arrangements for a convenient date for that to happen. It takes around 30 minutes, or longer if you'd like to partake in coffee in the clubhouse. Please email the Chair
