Farewell to Wymondham Academy Awards Beginners Courses and That Field

Dear Lovely Archers,

It has been quite a year so far this Winter. We have won at tournaments, had fun and now seem to have been recognised nationally. Exciting times.

Farewell to Wymondham High Academy

As you know, we are moving away from Wymondham Academy this winter. We do this with a heavy heart as the North Hall has seemed like a home to us all. Cramped sometimes, glass doors of inconvenience and a trippy shooting line all add to the quintessential quaintness of our favourite school hall. Alas, we are requested to move to pastures new where we will, we hope, settle in to something that serves us just as well, or better. Our future will come at a cost to us as members, as we are finding that any possible future will not be cheaper. Nevertheless, we'll keep on with our endeavours and work hard to make it work.

Bob sings us off....

Our friend and budding songster Bob delivered some of his favourite songs on Saturday for us and we have our final farewell on Monday 15th April 2019, when we'll bid the best caretaker buddies Paul and Bob: hasta luego.

Chair Wins - Archery GB; Archer of the Year Award

It was a huge surprise to Pete, that he came away from the Archery GB AGM and Awards day with one of the highest accolades in Biritish Archery, with the Archer of the Year Award. None of this would have come about had he not had the support from a wonderful team of archers that we call Wymondham Archers. You all have worked so very hard over the recent year to gain more members, introduce people to archery, to make friends with our new partners and work to find new accomodation for our new and fast approaching Winter season. Whilst honoured to receive the award it doesn't come about without you, our members. Well done to you all. The cup you see in the picture remains at Archery GB HQ.

That Field...

Works are continuing on our field next week Monday 15th April onwards for approximatley one week. Please be more vigilant with your archery if there are tractors on the field. It is expected that our permanent archery range will be in use by around the end of May. It is very much in need of a hair cut, reseeding and more fertilisation. Wymondham Rugby Club will be undertaking the work.

Beginners Courses - We Need You!

We are continuing our beginners courses and would love for you all to share our beginners course application form with your friends. Please click on the file attached Beginners Course Form, download and mail to all the folk who you think would like to take up archery. Remember to ask them to return the application to (copy this address) chairwymondhamarchers@gmail.com. Information also available on form.

Going Outdoors

Please put a big note in your diaries that we are outdoors from Wednesday 17th April 2019 from any time you like. Monday's and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings continue as Club Sessions. We are outdoors until September when we will advertise here and other places the location of our new indoor range. Remember that your Wymondham Rugby Club Membership card can be found in the restaurant; just ask for it when you are ready. And, of course the range is open all the time.

Be Warm and Dry

At the risk of stating the obvious, it is not what we might call warm presently and if you'd like to review the weather next week please click here. We recommend warm clothing, waterproofs and some wind protection. You might even need some sun cream, who knows. Also, if you can get to the club as early as possible, at least until we are on our new field, it'll help you avoid the low sunset.

We look forward to seeing you outdoors shortly.

Happy Shooting
